Türkiye
I have visited Türkiye many times since 2013. Straddling Europe and Asia, Türkiye is a transcontinental nation with a population of approximately 84 million, making it the 19th most populous country globally. Its rich history and vibrant culture, coupled with a diverse landscape that includes bustling cities, scenic beaches, and rugged mountains, make it a unique destination.
The Republic of Türkiye was founded in 1923, emerging from the remnants of the Ottoman Empire post-World War I. Under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a distinguished Turkish army officer and the nation’s first president, Turkey underwent significant political, social, and cultural transformations. Atatürk aspired to create a modern, secular state with a pronounced national identity—a vision that continues to shape Türkiye today.
Türkiye’s economy ranks among the world’s fastest-growing, fueled by its youthful and energetic population, strategic location, and expanding global integration. As a G20 member and a founding member of the OECD, NATO, and the Council of Europe, Turkey boasts a diverse economy encompassing robust manufacturing, agriculture, and service sectors.
Türkiye boasts a rich and diverse cultural heritage. From the ancient ruins of Ephesus and the underground cities of Cappadocia to the vibrant, bustling city of Istanbul, Türkiye offers something for every traveler. Renowned for its culinary diversity, Turkish cuisine features globally cherished dishes like kebabs, meze, and baklava.
